“Mother emigrated to Nauvoo in the spring of ‘45.  Was baptized by Elder Aaron Johnson in June 1845.  Was married to Samuel A. Woolley May 21, ’46 by Priest Joseph Young.  Did her first housekeeping in a wagon.  June 5 crossed the Mississippi River and started for the west.  Was taken sick in April ’77.  On June 18, 1879 had an attack of paralysis, which was repeated on May 12, 1880, and again on July 18, 1880.  She partly recovered, but again on August 25, had an attack of the same nature about 3 A.M., which so disabled her that she could never tell what it was or how it came upon her. 

She died September 3, 1880 at 6:48 P.M.  Funeral September 5 at 10 A.M. in the Thirteenth Ward assembly rooms.

Catherine Elizabeth Mehring, born November 9, 1826, Earl Township, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Her parents are Henry and Anna Mehring.

Sister Catherine, by the virtue of the Priesthood, we lay our hands upon your head and we bless thee with the seal and blessing of our Father, and we say unto you that thou art blessed with blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Thou wilt be numbered with the seed of Jacob and rejoice with equal blessings with the daughters of Isaac.  Thou hast the blessings of fidelity of heart and honesty of mind, thou art firm in the decision of thy mind.  The Lord blessed thee with intellectual powers to improve upon.  Thou wilt prove a blessing to thy associates and thou hast the love and regard of thy friends.  Wisdom shall rest on thy mind and endow thee with power and wisdom.  In thy choice for life, ask and thou shalt ever be a blessing to thy associates and thy offspring.

Thy house shall be a house of order; the blessings of the earth will rest on thy labors and thou shalt see Zion redeemed and friends in the new and everlasting covenant; Thou wilt delight in flocks and herds and in their increase there shall be no end.  Thou shalt have dreams and visions, which are gifts of the Gospel, that will teach thee thy duty and make thy path plain before thee.  And by virtue of the Priesthood, thou wilt be exalted to sit upon the throne and dominions by promise we seal thee up to enjoy eternal and everlasting life in the kingdom of thy God.  Amen.
